  Returned to palate for the first time in a couple years. We stopped going for awhile due to unpredictable service and food. Not much has changed. We started with steak bites which ended up being the best part of the meal. My husband ordered a medium burger which was well done and burnt. I ordered fish and chips, my fish was so over cooked it was like eating dry over cooked chicken. I barely ate any of it. I received 1 and a half pieces of fish, the half was broken off from another piece that didn't make it on the plate, very odd. Then for dessert we ordered the lemon cream cake which is not what it used to be and it came to the table frozen. We asked our waitress to box it up when we told her it was frozen. She then proceeded to take my fork and stab it multiple times to see for herself that it was frozen. Over all we paid 70 without tip for overdone food and a frozen dessert and two beers. Giving it 1 star because the steak bites were perfect. If we had not waited so long for our food we would have sent it back to the kitchen. Tried to speak to the manager on our way out but couldn't find a staff member. At the very least the waitress should have taken off $8 for a frozen dessert we couldn't even eat. She did not offer. I hope management sees this review and takes action.

  The food is absolutely delicious with large serving sizes. I especially like that the menu items are a little different but yet traditional. The atmosphere is great, the homemade cocktails are yummy and the live music really adds a homey flair. My husband and I love going to Palate when we're in the Milford area.
